The past few weeks have been a blur of rain and sweaters, pumpkin beer and other fall-appropriate-Portland-ness. Snippets, ahoy.

Something of a holiday gathering spread with neon sugar cookies decorated by J. Legume, breads for roasted garlic & squash fondue, and gluten free chocolate peppermint cake. Not pictured: tator tots, chipotle ranch and other fun stuff, like the makings of pickle backs.

Pizza #2. The first pizza has a roasted and herbed delicata squash sauce, while this one is more traditional with a fiery marinara.

My feelings on Portland winters are bittersweet, at best. It mists, it hails, it still rains a lot. It might snow that turns into rain that turns into snow that may turn into snow for an inch or two and then shut the city down for three days, and yeah, it drives me bonkers. I find myself reminiscing about blizzards coating Long Island and New England winters and the lights on Comm. Ave. and craving the cold, or now, seeking something totally different. Getting away. I’m a broken record about my SE Asian travels last winter, and while my next epic adventure has been postponed until after May, I’m somehow going to be spending the rest of the month on hiatus….and most surely, in the snow. Time will tell if it feels right. More on that another day. Holidaze, indeed.

Nice sweater, indeed!
So THAT’s how pumpkin pie brownies are supposed to look, huh? I made them one year and they were a gooey disaster but I got drunk and ate them all alone. Gorgeous looking pizzas, and cloudy mists. You ain’t missing anything over here in NY yet. Same weather. Hopefully that will change.
Reblogged this on RD Revilo.
Your food just always seems amazing and exciting. That pizza with Delicata squash (my favorite) sauce intrigues me, so like that bread with the garlic and squash fondue. I definitely have to eat more squash before the spring, and I have yet to eat my first vegan fondue (chocolate fondue put aside).
and I was already really hungry. damn!
I’m lovin’ your blog lately. I miss the good ol’ days of early vegan blogging –and it’s always nice to revisit one of the pioneers. Photo posts are just jam-packed with goodness
