behind the scenes

So, is this still Get Sconed!?

Why, yes.

Hey, Jess here. I’ve been documenting my everyday vegan food experiences and culinary projects on Let’s Get Sconed!, which then moved here as Get Sconed!, since late 2005, which is now redirected here, to www.ComSconeWithMe.com- which really, remains Get Sconed! because try as I might through the years, I wasn’t able to grab that domain and Frank Sinatra’s been stuck in my head.
You can easily find me on Instagram as @jdfunks.

I’m now, somehow, a 30-something living in SE Portland with my lovely partner, our contingent of cats, a love of colorful, local produce, a longing for snowflakes, obsession with cooking, and a growing enthusiasm for hand-crafted mixology while I’m ever-daydreaming about potential events, veganizing cook shows, and wandering the globe.

I’m a food writer, reader, event planner, supper club co-hort, recipe tester, volunteer, and most importantly, someone who doesn’t want to find themselves stuck at a day job ever again. My on-going projects include: Vida Vegan Con, Vegan Iron Chef, VeganMoFo, and Heartichoke Supper Club.

I’m a disciple of the Post Punk Kitchen and have been a recipe tester for Veganomicon, Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar, Vegan Brunch, Appetite for Reduction,Vegan Pie in the Sky and the upcoming Isa Does It. Click on the test kitchen tag to check out my experiences.

I’m an original co-author of Stumptown Vegans.

I dedicate much of my time as a co-director of Portland’s Vegan Iron Chef  and  Vida Vegan Con.
